Dental Crowns in Hampton: Solution For a Broken Tooth

A crown is a restoration that covers, or ‘caps’ a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving the appearance of a tooth.

Crowns are necessary when a tooth is generally broken down and fillings won’t solve the problem. If a tooth is cracked, a crown holds the tooth together to seal the cracks so the damage doesn’t get worse.
Crowns are also used to support a large filling when there isn’t enough of the tooth remaining, attach a bridge, protect weak teeth from fracturing, restore fractured teeth, or cover badly shaped or discoloured teeth.

To prepare the tooth for a crown, it is reduced so the crown can fit over it. At Siana Dental we use 3Shape TRIOS technology rather than sticky impression materials to take an impression of the tooth once it is prepared. This technology will take 3D digital scans of the tooth that requires the crown. The 3D digital scans are then sent to the TRIOS lab via email where the crown will be created. The new crown or restoration will be fabricated and fitted within 48 hours.

While you wait for your new crown, a temporary crown is fitted over the tooth until the permanent crown is made. On the next visit, Dr Max will remove the temporary crown and cement the permanent crown onto the tooth.

Coming soon. We are in the process of upgrading to a 3D printer and will be able to create your crown on the same day! If you do not have a weak tooth protected with a crown, a fracture or root canal is likely in the future.
