Broken, Cracked Or Chipped Tooth
This is unfortunately a very common problem and can affect any tooth in the mouth. The break in the tooth can be minor, moderate or severe. Sometimes this is painless. Other times, this can be Painful.

Here is a (non-exhaustive) list of the causes of a broken tooth:
- Decay
- Aging (natural wear and tear) of the tooth
- Biting on something hard (like a bone or pip)
- Clenching or grinding of teeth
- Trauma from a fall or collision
The solution depends on how bad the crack and the associated pain is. The repair may involve placing a simple filling, a crown or a veneer. Sometimes the crack can be so severe that the tooth may need a root canal treatment or may need to be removed (extraction).
If untreated, these cracks usually deepen and increase the chances of needing a root canal treatment or the entire tooth being removed. An abscess may also develop. Early treatment always saves you pain, time and costs.
